The Dreaming Spires of Oxford
The Dreaming Spires of Oxford
Oxford, home to the oldest University in England. It is a city with a small heart where all of the universities colleges are clustered with their magnificent buildings and spires.

The city has a vibrant shopping centre and there are beautiful walks along the River Thames, which runs through the heart of the city.

Just north of Oxford is Woodstock, home to Blenheim Palace (ancestral home of Winston Churchill), which was built for John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, in recognition of his great victory over the French at the battle of Blenheim, 1704.

The Palace, designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, and one of the finest examples of English Baroque, is set in 2100 acres of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown.
